.Exe Icons are missing after GPO configuration
These days I was doing some tests in file association GPO's and I did a configuration that made me lost the .exe icons in a virtual machine. After some research, I discovered that this register was modified with a wrong value: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\DefaultIcon\ The standard value is %1. After doing that, I restarted the system, and the problem had been solved. Source: http://forums.stardock.com/390822
